Uttarakhand Defence Academy Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)
AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test. It is a national-level exam conducted by Indian Air Force to select eligible candidates as Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty for both Technical and Non-Technical branches. The IAF conducts AFCAT 2024 exam twice a year as AFCAT 1 and 2.
The exam is conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) twice a year to recruit Class 1 Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties for both Technical and Non-Technical Branches.
Being one of the most sought-after exams, millions of students appear for it to enter a reputed Air Force Academy and receive a commission as an Indian Air Force Officer. - Nationality: The candidate opting to apply for the exam must be a citizen of India as per the Indian citizenship act, 1955.
- Marital Status: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Widows/ Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also eligible.
- Educational Qualification: All the candidates who wish to appear for AFCAT 2024 must hold a bachelor’s degree in their respective discipline. The AFCAT qualification criteria vary from post to post. Take a look at the detailed criteria set by IAF for flying branch and ground duty below.

Age Limit:(Flying Branch)- Minimum Age - 20 years.
- Maximum Age - 24 years.
- The candidates should be of this age as of 1st January 2025.
- Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and
- Graduation with a minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
- BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR
- Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent
AFCAT Ground Duty Eligibility Criteria 2024
Below is the educational criteria and age limit on which the candidates' eligibility will be evaluated.
NationalityThe candidate must be an Indian Citizen as per the Indian Citizenship Act 1955.
Age Limit- Minimum Age - 20 years.
- Maximum Age - 26 years.
- The candidates should be of this age as of 1st January 2025.
Candidates should be unmarried at the course commencement, and marriage is not permitted while training. A candidate who marries during the training period shall be discharged and liable to refund all expenditures incurred on him by the Government.
