Uttarakhand Defence Academy Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test. It is a national-level exam conducted by the Indian Air Force to select eligible candidates as Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty for both Technical and Non-Technical branches. The IAF conducts AFCAT twice a year as AFCAT 1 and 2.

AFCAT 2026 notification has been released, and registrations for AFCAT 01/2026 are open from 17 November 2025 to 14 December 2025. The exam will be held on 31 January 2026. This exam recruits Class 1 Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties, covering both Technical and Non-Technical branches.

UTTARAKHAND DEFENCE ACADEMY AFCAT Eligibility

  • Nationality: The candidate opting to apply for the exam must be a citizen of India as per the Indian citizenship act, 1955.
  • Marital Status: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Widows, widowers, and divorcees (with or without children) below 25 years of age are also eligible to apply for AFCAT 2026. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible; however, they will not be permitted to live with family during training.
  • Educational Qualification: All candidates applying for AFCAT 2026 must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. The educational qualification criteria vary according to the branch applied for, such as Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Candidates are advised to carefully check the detailed eligibility conditions prescribed by the Indian Air Force (IAF) for each specific entry before applying.

AFCAT Education Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Engineering/Technology from a recognised university, OR
  • Cleared Sections A & B of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India), Aeronautical Society of India, or Graduate Membership Examination of Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers with 60% marks
Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical) – AE (M):
  • Minimum 50% marks in Physics and Maths at 10+2 level, AND
  • 4-year degree in Engineering/Technology from a recognised university, OR
  • Cleared Sections A & B of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks

Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Weapon Systems Branch:
  • 10+2 with 50% marks in Maths and Physics
  • Minimum 3+2 year degree with 60% marks
Administration:
  • 10+2 and Graduation in any recognised discipline with 60% marks, OR
  • Cleared Section A & B examinations of recognised professional bodies
Accounts:
  • 10+2 with 60% marks
  • B.Com / BBA / MBA OR qualified CA / CMA / CS / CFA
Education:
  • 10+2 with 50% marks in all subjects
  • Minimum 60% marks in graduation and applicable post-graduation

  • 10+2 and B.Sc. with Maths and Physics with minimum 60% marks, OR
  • 4-year degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 60% marks in disciplines such as Communication, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, etc.

AFCAT Eligibility for Technical Branch

To be eligible for the Ground Duty (Technical) branch in the Indian Air Force through AFCAT, candidates must meet certain educational qualifications. Following are the eligibility criteria for AFCAT the Technical Branch:

AFCAT Eligibility for Non-Technical Branch

In order to qualify for the Ground Duty Non-Technical branch in the Indian Air Force through AFCAT, applicants must satisfy specific educational requirements. The following are the AFCAT Exam eligibility criteria for Non-Technical Branch:
